Some time ago, Engadget has done some tests of Qualcomm MDP device. MDP or Mobile Development Platform is a gadget (a standard phone or tablet) from chip maker that used as the basis for developing and testing a mobile application. Latest MDP gadget uses Snapdragon 800 SoC (MSM8974) with 11.6-inch 1080p display, 2 GB LPDDR3 of RAM, and 3400 mAh battery.
The phone has similar specifications, but with a 4.3-inch 720p display and 1500 mAh battery. The rest of specs such as internal storage, USB 3.0, 12 MP camera with auto focus and LED flash, and 2 MP camera are same with the tablet. For connectivity, it supports LTE band 17, Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 4.0 with LE, NFC, GPS, as well as pressure and humidity sensors.
Test results obtained by using well-known benchmarking tools. Overall, Snapdragon 800 can outperform all other chips that have been launched to market including Samsung Exynos 5 Octa, which can compete with NVIDIA Tegra 4 and even outperform Tegra 4 on some tests.
Snapdragon 800 reportedly will be used on some latest gadgets like Samsung Galaxy Note III, Sony Xperia ZU, Pantech, and Windows RT 8.1 tablet.
