MediaTek MT6589 Announced, TheFirst Quad-Core Chip From The Manufacturer

MediaTek is ready to enter quad-core CPU market with the announcement of MediaTek MT6589, the first quad-core processor based on ARM Cortex-A7.

Besides the quad-core Cortex-A7 clocked more than 1 GHz, it’s equipped with PowerVR 5XT Series GPU and supports high class multimedia performance, including of 13 MP Camera, 1080p screen, and Miracast. The chip is also equipped with built-in HSPA+ 42 Mbps and dual-SIM dual-active TD-SCDMA radio.

Combining competitive performance with high thermal efficiency and low power consumption in affordable packet, the latest chipset from MediaTek is appropriate for Android devices running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and later.

The first device with MT6589 chipset will be available commercially in Q1 2013.
