Intel has released Medfield chip for smartphone market in 2012. But it can’t compete with other chips like Qualcomm Snapdragon or Nvidia Tegra because of its performance. However the biggest PC chipset manufacturer doesn’t give up. It’s currently working on a new chip called Redhookbay.
The presence of Redhookbay is known from NenaMark. From the test result, it’s known that the chip tested on a device with display resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. The chip of Medfield family scores 31612 on AnTuTu benchmark.
The CPU has a clock speed between 1.6 GHz to 2.0 GHz, while the GPU inside the chip is PowerVR SGX 544MP. It’s also supports 4G LTE connectivity.
This leakage coincides with news from Digitimes reporting that Intel US going to announce a new smartphone platform and Atom processor at MWC 2013 held in Spain next February.
