According to Nielsen research about US smartphone market share, Android is still the most popular smartphone operating system in US leading by 54.6%, an increase from 51.8%.
On the second place is iOS with a market share of 36.3%. RIM BlackBerry is still on the third place, but its market share drop from 8.1% to 4%. On that period, Android grew faster than iOS
The company also shows a data about smartphone manufacturer market share. Apple is the most popular here with 34%. Samsung Android smartphones covers 17% of total sold devices on that period, followed by HTC with 14% and Motorola with 11%. On the next position is RIM with 9%. HTC Windows Mobile devices has a market share of 2.9%. Overall Nokia is only 1.2% with its Windows Phone and Symbian smartphones.
