The presence of Quad-Core MediaTek MT6589 produced by well-known Taiwanese manufacturer, MediaTek, is a good thing for some Chinese smartphone manufacturers as it can lower production cost.
TCL, one of smartphone vendors from China has just announced two smartphones powered by MediaTek MT6589. Those smartphones are TCL P600 and TCL Y900.
With a thickness of 8.99 mm, TCL P600 will be equipped with 4.5-inch qHD water-resistant display. Other features are dual-SIM slot with dual-standby support, 8 megapixels, and 1 GB of RAM. It will run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
TCL Y900 will come with better specifications. It will feature a 5-inch HD 720p display and have a thickness of 8.5 mm. It also supports dual-standby and runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Both TCL smartphones will be sold in the market starting from early 2013. TCL P600 will be priced around $259 per unit, while TCL Y900 will be priced at $499 per unit
