The watch connects an Android smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth and able to show SMS, incoming call, Twitter and Facebook updates, and calendar. It can be used as remote for music player. Sony claims that Smartwatch 2 is faster than its predecessor. There are hundreds of applications designed specifically for SmartWatch 2. Certified by IP57, the device is protected against water splash.
With aluminum body and stainless steel wristband, the watch comes with NFC connectivity for easier pairing and a micro USB port for charging the device. The display is 1.6-inch with a resolution of 220 x 176 pixels with good readability under direct sunlight. You can also control your presentation with Presentation Pal and capture photos from your phone camera.
SmartWatch 2 will be available worldwide starting in September with many wristband and watchstrap variations from Sony.
