Samsung recently announces that the company has started the mass production of 4 GB DRAM Low Power Double Data Rate 3 (LPDDR3) mobile chip. This technology is said able to be present multimedia speed of a PC into mobile devices, smartphones and tablets.
Quoted from The Next Web, the 4 GB LPDDR3 mobile DRAM allows device to transmit three Full HD video (about 17 GB) only in a second.
The 20nm chip is similar with DRAM technology used on PC. It’s designed to handle mutlimedia, which needs high performance.
As a comparison, this technology performance is 30% better and 20% less power consumption compared with 30nm DRAM which is used on smartphones and tablets at this time.
Young-Hyun Jun, executive vice president of Samsung memory sales and marketing division says that by providing the most efficient with very big data capacity of memory on next generation phones, we allows OEMs to announce their more innovative products to market. The South Korean manufacturer also promises to increase production of DRAM chip in the late of this year.
