Qualcomm has just announced two new types of Snapdragon S4 processor, MSM8226 and MSM8626. Both processors has four cores (quad-core) and claimed to bring premium connectivity and multimedia for 3G handset.
Each CPU features Adreno 305 GPU, capable to play 1080p video, and support up to 13 megapixel camera. Made with 28nm fabrication, those chips also support dual SIM and designed for network in China (TD-SCDMA, CDMA 1xAdv dan HSPA+). Qualcomm promises up to 40% of battery saving and 60% smaller compared to the previous generation.
‘The addition of Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 family extend our excellence in the field of performance and low-power for a lot of smartphones, “said Cristiano Amon, executive vice president and co-president of mobile products and computerization.
Qualcomm will also release Qualcomm Reference Design (QRD) for MSM8226 and MSM8626. QRD program will give resource in developing handset for producers. QRD explains the details of hardware and software which have been tested as compatibility standard.
Those processors will start to be found on smartphones launched in Q2 2013.
