Popular chip maker from Taiwan MediaTek has released a roadmap of its latest products that will be available in this year. From all upcoming chips, there’s a chip called MT6592, which is a super powerful chip for mobile devices. MT6592 is an octa core chipset and it’s reported to be as powerful as Snapdragon 800, but more power efficient.
Reported by Chinese website MyDrivers, AnTuTu benchmark score for MediaTek MT6592 reaches 29,600 points. Snapdragon 800 devices score about 33,000 points. MT6592 will be clocked at 2 GHz when it launches, not 1.7 GHz like on that test. AnTuTu benchmark is not an absolute measure of a device performance. However, it indicates that MT6592 performance is not much different with Snapdragon 800.
MediaTek MT6592 is a processor chipset with eight Cortex-A7 cores fabricated with 28nm processing technology. It uses quad-core Mali GPU. Compared to big.LITTLE architecture with four Cortex A7 and four Cortex A15, MediaTek MT6592 is more efficient in terms of power consumption.
Although the benchmark result of MediaTek MT6592 is very great, the price is cheaper than its rivals. Price of smartphones with MediaTek MT6592 will range between 2500 – 3000 yuan. The chip is scheduled to be available in Q4 2013.
