Besides NVIDIA and Qualcomm, the top PC chipset manufacturer Intel also participates in CES 2013 held in Las Vegas. The company officially announces a new Atom processor namely Z2420 ‘Lexinton’. With that new chipset, Intel seriously enters smartphone and tablet chipset market. However, the chip has lower specs compared to Medfield.
The chip refers a smartphone with 3.5-inch 320 x 240 pixels display, single-core 1.2 GHz processor with HyperThreading, and HSPA+ support. It also supports dual SIM and wireless display.
According to Intel, there are some companies developing handset based on that processor. Some of them are Acer and Lava. As already known, Lava is the first company to release Medfield-powered smartphone.
