Acer Liquid S1 Phablet Announced

Acer joins the phablet market with the announcement of Acer Liquid S1 phablet. The phablet packs a 5.7-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, which means 257 ppi pixel density. It comes with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box, which is the latest Android OS to date.

Under the hood, the phablet is equipped with a quad-core 1.5 GHz MediaTek chip and 1 GB of RAM. The internal storage is 8 GB and there’s a microSD slot too, supporting up to 32 GB microSD card.

A new features on the phone is called Float User Interface. When user press options button for a few seconds, it will show Float Apps shortcut. When user press an app, the app will run above the current running app. The apps included in Float Apps list are calculator, camera, maps, and notes. Another feature is Float Caller notification, which will show a mini windows that allows user to answer a call, dismiss it, or send message to caller when there’s an incoming call.

On the front, there’s a secondary camera with a 24mm lens, an 88-degree wide viewing angle. For capturing an image, user only need to say ‘cheese’. On entertainment side, the device features live sharing with Acer’s 2-way Live Screen app and Studio Sound with DTS technology.

With AcerCloud Docs, user can view, send, and edit documents from the device. Other features include wireless display and print and dual SIM support.
