There is a new rumor about next Sony’s flagship smartphone, Sony Honami, which brings a 20MP camera. A report from VR-Zone mentions the details of camera used on the phone. Although the resolution is not clearly mentioned, the camera is believed to have much better performance compared with most of its rivals.
Sony Honami is reported to have a Sony 1/1.6′ Exmor RS sensor and Cybershot G lens. With a size of 1/1.6′, the sensor is bigger than its rivals, except the Nokia 808 PureView. Here is the comparison.
For the software, image processing algorithm is said to be similar to Sony digital camera lineup, the Cyber-shot. User interface is taken from 2013 Cyber-shot lineup. This camera also has Superior Auto Scene Recognition that’s improved from Xperia Z/ZL.
In addition, Sony will also add a feature which is similar to Augmented Reality on Nokia City Lens. To capture dark object, the camera on Sony Honami is reported to be equipped with Xenon flash or dual-LED flash, brighter than general flash used on smartphones.
